KATHLEEN BROWN
Head Softball Coach

Kathleen Brown comes to Patrick Henry Community College from Omaha, NE. The 2012 season will mark her fourth year coaching the PH softball program. Since beginning the program, she has compiled a 75 and 68 career record including a 38-12 campaign last season in which the Patriots were ranked 13th nationally. The 2011 Patriots won the regular season Region X Title with a record of 15-1 with Brown receiving Region X Coach of the year honors. In addition, 6 Patriots were named to All-Region Teams, and one was named to the All-America Second Team.
At Patrick Henry, Kathleen is also an adjunct professor of math, physical education, and recreation and parks. She serves as the Assistant Athletic Director and aids in student activities. She also is a curriculum specialist with the MHC After 3 program, which serves Martinsville-Henry County high school students. She has developed and administered Compass Test preparation courses as well as served as an Upward Bound Advisor for two years.
Brown graduated from Peru State College in Peru, NE in May of 2007 with a degree in Mathematics and a Coaching endorsement. In December of 2007 Brown received her teaching certificate in Math Education completed her Master's degree from Peru State College in 2008 in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Teaching and Learning. Currently she is defending her dissertation to complete her doctorate in Sports Management with an emphasis in Academic Leadership from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, AL which will be completed in December of 2011.
While at Peru State, Brown played for four years at 3rd base. She earned 2 Academic All-America selections and 3 All-Conference selections. She holds the NAIA record for career walks with 143. After playing out her eligibility, Brown was the Assistant Coach for the Bobcats for one season. In addition to coaching for Peru State, Kathleen also has experience coaching at Auburn High School in Auburn, NE and for the Omaha Quakes and Blue Ridge Bombers softball organizations.
Brown is an avid baseball fan, especially of the Royals and the College World Series where she has previously worked as a ball girl. Her hobbies include attending live sporting events and beasting it on the slowpitch field. Kathleen is the daughter of Rick and Margie Brown of Omaha and resides in Fieldale, VA.
