cparker@ph.vccs.edu

Coach Parker is in his fourth year as Head Baseball Coach at PHCC. In three seasons, the Patriots have won 105 games. Last year’s inaugural season in the NJCAA was highlighted by a mid season national ranking of number 7 in the country and finished with a national ranking of 13. He comes from a long line of young experience. His college career started at Hampden-Sydney as a player in 2000 and then moved on to Virginia Tech as a player. In the spring of 2003 he was offered the position of Head JV/Club Baseball Coach, where he went on to be named the Virginia Tech Coach of the Year in 2004. He continued coaching until graduation in 2005, when he graduated with a Bachelor's in the Science of Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise with minors in both Spanish and Biology. Coach Parker also had the opportunity to serve as a Head Coach in the Stan Musial summer collegiate league. During the 2005-2006 school year he worked with Virginia Commonwealth University's baseball team as a graduate assistant coach, while receiving a Master's degree in Sports Leadership. Coach Parker spent a summer coaching in the Coastal Plain League with the Martinsville Mustangs. Coach Parker also has several years of coaching experience in American Legion Baseball and represented the state of North Carolina in the best finish in state history in the NCBA World Series in Wichita Kansas. Coach Parker resides in Eden, NC with his wife Anna and daughter Leah.

Paul Menschner
Associate Head Baseball Coach/
Recruiting Coordinator

pmenschner@ph.vccs.edu

Coach Menschner enters his fourth season with the Patriots, and his second season as Associate Head Coach. Coach Menschner will continue to oversee the pitching and recruiting aspects of the game along with more responsibility with day to day operations associated with the program. Paul reigns from the cornhusker state, growing up in Omaha, Nebraska. After a shortened career due to injuries at Northwestern, he found himself wanting to coach. He served as an undergraduate volunteer for his alma mater before graduating with a degree in Physical Education and now he is pursuing his Master’s in Sports Management from American University. Coach Menschner also has several years experience in American Legion baseball both in Virginia and Nebraska and spent the 2009 summer as an Assistant Coach with the Martinsville Mustangs of the Coastal Plain League. Coach Parker said of Coach Menschner,”I really admire Coach Menschner’s work ethic and the value that he adds to our team and coaching staff.” “He has already made a huge impact on our program here at PHCC.” Coach Menschner resides in Collinsville, VA and enjoys college football when away from the diamond.

Scott Cates

Assistant Baseball Coach

Coach Cates comes to PHCC after one season as an assistant at Greensboro College and six total seasons previously at Rockingham Community College. Scott will work directly with the catchers and other position players on player development, while also helping with base coaching duties. Coach Parker stated that, “His long time knowledge of Juco Baseball will be put to good use here at PHCC.” “We are excited to have him on our side for a change.” Coach Parker competed for coach Cates for several summers during his collegiate seasons and knows how hard he works and his desire to win.
