2010
Hall of Fame Members Announced

The 2009-2010 Women's Basketball
Team along with 2010 Baseball player Rashad Hatcher have been named to
the Patrick Henry Community College Athletics Hall of Fame. Accepting
the award for the Women's Basketball Team is Head Coach Tony Jones and
accepting the award for Rashad Hatcher is his father Wayne Hatcher.
The Women's Basketball team finished the 2009-2010 season with a 24-1
record, dropping their final game in the Division II National
Championship game in Peoria, Illinois in March.
Hatcher, who spent the 2010 season with the Patriots on the diamond
was recently selected by the Washington Nationals in the 49th round of
the MLB First Year Player Draft. He is currently playing for the Gulf
Coast Nationals in the Gulf Coast Rookie League. |

Four Named to PHCC Hall of Fame

D.J. Turpin, Chuck Moore, Gary Collins, and Charice Marsh have been
named to the Patrick Henry Community College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Dennis J Turpin is a 2009 graduate of PHCC with an Associate of Arts
and Sciences who graduated Cum Laude competed for 2 seasons on the
Patriot Baseball Team and was named to the All Region X Baseball
Conference Team as a pitcher. D J finished tops in strikeouts and wins
while attending PHCC and received a 90% scholarship offer to Saint
Andrew’s College in Laurinburg, NC.
Charice Marsh is a 2009 graduate of PHCC was the first female athlete
to compete in two sports. Charice participated for 2 seasons on the
women’s basketball team, and then competed for one season on the
softball team. Charice plans to join the air force.
Chuck Moore lead the Patriots basketball team from 2007-2009 and won a
state championship as well as a Region X Regular Season Championship.
In addition he was named 2008-2009 Region X Coach of the Year.
Gary Collins is a former graduate of PHCC has been deemed the “super
fan.” He makes every effort to attend all PHCC athletic events and has
been a huge supporter of PHCC athletics from all means necessary. |
