Coach Orr is a Martinsville/Henry County Native. He is a graduate of Longwood University with a B.S. in Psychology & M.S. in Special Education. He is employed with Henry County Public Schools as an Educational Diagnostician.

Orr was named the Head Coach for PHCC Volleyball in November 2017.  He previously served as an Assistant Volleyball Coach at Patrick Henry Community College for their inaugural season (15-16) where Coach Orr helped guide the Lady Patriots to an undefeated finish in the regular season Region X play AND an undefeated finish in the Region X tournament championship as well. He has been involved with the PHCC volleyball program since its inception.

He is the former Magna Vista Varsity Volleyball Coach & Junior Varsity Volleyball coach for Magna Vista High School Lady Warriors in Ridgeway, VA.

In addition, he has coached a variety of age groups for the following travel teams: NRV-Martinsville or State Line Volleyball: 15U for (NRV-Martinsville), 18U ‘Heat’ team (SLV), 14U ‘Fireballs’ (SLV)  The ‘Fireballs’ were ranked in the top 5 in the ODR (VA) region at the completion of our season), 15U ‘Cobras’ (SLV), 14U ‘Dominators’ (SLV) and 13U Bombers (SLV).

Orr is an active participant in volleyball leagues year-round, as well as in indoor, sand/grass volleyball tournaments throughout VA. Orr is a Gold Medal winner in men’s doubles in Virginia’s Commonwealth Games.

Hannah Helbert
PHCC Assistant Volleyball Coach

Coach Helbert is from Stuart, Virginia. She fell in love with volleyball in the fourth grade and has continued to play since.  Helbert attended Patrick County High School and played basketball and volleyball.

During her time at Patrick County she received multiple district and region honors for volleyball, as well as being named to the honorable mention all-state team. Helbert was voted team MVP for three consecutive seasons, first team all district three seasons, and Piedmont District Player of the year two consecutive seasons. She was also the first player to break 1,000 kills in their career at PC.

Following an outstanding high school career, Helbert attended North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina where she played volleyball for two seasons.  She then transferred to Ferrum College where she finished out her athletic career, while majoring in Business with an emphasis in Sports Management.

Since 2015, Helbert has been coaching travel volleyball for several different age groups. This past volleyball season she was assistant varsity coach at Patrick County High School and head middle school girls basketball coach as well. Currently, Helbert works as a Teacher’s Assistant at Patrick County High School and as a sports writer for the Enterprise newspaper.
