June 3, 2014

PHCC freshman and Dominican Republic native, Stibel Aleman-Saba was recently named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American First Team.

With his selection, Aleman-Saba is the third First Team All-American in Patrick Henry Community College’s history.  He is one of three outfielders in the nation that was given this honor.

“Stibel put together a magnificent season and this honor is well deserved,”  head baseball coach Lucas Jones said.  “Stibel has a passion and energy for the game that helped put him in position to have individual success.  Stibel would be the first to tell you that his individual success is a result of the team that surrounds him.”

Stibel, by way of James River High School in Richmond, VA,  put together one of the best freshman seasons in program history as he completed the 2014 regular season with a .381 batting average for the Patriots.  Even while battling an injury for most of the season, he still was able to provide 53 hits on the year, including 16 doubles, 2 home runs, 27 runs batted in, and 33 runs scored in 36 games played.

The All-American nod is the latest in a string of accomplishments for Stibel who was also named the Region X Player of the Year.  The freshman currently holds a 3.2 gpa, while pursuing an Associates Degree in General Studies.
