Baseball Coaching Staff for 2013-2014

PHCC Head Baseball Coach Paul Menschner has submitted his letter of resignation as the 2013 baseball season concluded. Menschner, who had been the head baseball coach for three years and in the program for seven has left Patrick Henry to seek other career opportunities. The Patrick Henry Athletic Department hopes to name a new head coach by the end of this week. The rest of the coaching staff has been annouced, however.cates

Scott Cates, who has been the Associate Head Baseball coach for the past two season will remain on staff to help with on field operations and will lead the Patriot hitters. ” We are happy to retain Coach Cates on staff and look for him to help the returning players make a smooth transition under the leadership of our new coach,” PHCC Acting Athletic Director Kathleen Brown stated. ” Coach Cates is respected by the players and staff, and is a huge asset to our program. ”


Casey Hodges will also join the Patriot Baseball staff as the Associate Head Baseball Coach and will primarily work with the pitchers and recruiting. Hodges played baseball for the Patriots and was inducted in the Patriot Athletic Hall of Fame last year. He finished his career at Mount Olive before being drafted by the Atlanta Braves. Hodges has experience coaching locally with Post 42 Legion Team. “It is exciting to add Coach Hodges to our staff because of what he brings to the table,” Brown stated. “He is someone that all of the student-athletes can identify with being a PHCC graduate. His collegiate and professional baseball experience will be invaluable to the pitchers that we have on our staff.”

The Patriot Athletic Department hope to name the Head Coach later on this week.
