March 26, 2014

The PHCC baseball team remains in the top 10 in the National Junior College Athletic Association at number 9 in the poll released Wednesday. PHCC is the only team in Region X that was rated in this week’s poll. Catawba Valley, who was previously¬†ranked fifth, was forced to drop from the poll because of a violation of the national stat-entry requirement.

The Patriots are led offensively by freshman outfielder Stibel Aleman Saba who is hitting .455 and leads the team in home runs and RBI’s. Dylan Dombrowskas, Justin Kime, Ed Lozano, and Daymon Totherow are all hitting over .300 providing added support to the PHCC offense. Weekend starters Scott Spradlin and Levi Pruitt both boast an unbeaten record on the hill, 4-0 and 3-0 respectively. Alex Brown, the Patriots’ closer,¬†holds the lowest ERA on the team at zero in helping him secure 4 saves on the season.

PHCC is currently 18-8 and 11-3 in Region X. They are scheduled to play at New River Community College this weekend.
