Baseball team ranked #9

In the latest poll put out by the NJCAA the PHCC baseball team is ranked #9. They fell three spots after last weekend when they dropped their first conference series of the year to Rockingham Community College, but still remained in the top ten. They are currently 27-11 overall. Offensive statistical leaders for the Patriots include Stibel Aleman Saba who holds a .442 batting average, followed by Dylan Dombrowskas at .355. Dombrowskas also leads the team in doubles with 18 while Aleman Saba leads the team in homeruns with three. On the bump Scott Spradlin has a 2.08 ERA which is the lowest of the starting pitchers. He is 6-1 while fellow weekend starter Levi Pruitt currently stands at 4-0. Out of the bullpen Mark Hendricks holds a team low 0.87 ERA. Alex Brown leads the team in saves with 4.

The Patriots currently stand 2nd in Region X with a 16-6 record. Catawba Valley who travels to Hooker Field this weekend for a crucial weekend set holds the top spot with a 15-4 record. The winner of the series this weekend will likely head into the Region X Tournament with the top seed. The only other Region X series that PHCC has left to play is at Surry Community College May 3rd and 4th. The Region X Tournament will be played in Morehead City, NC May 9th through the 13th.
