May 15, 2013

HaleyHaley Faulkner of Johnson City, Tenn., has signed to join the Lady Patriot softball team in the fall. Haley is a pitcher who currently attends University School on the Campus of East Tennessee State University. She has lead her high school team to the state championship for three years straight, and hopes to make it four straight this spring.

“We are ecstatic to have Haley come on board with us for next season. She is going to complement our other pitcher, Samantha Barton, extremely well. I think that the support that they will give us in the circle will be the difference to get us back atop Region X,” said head coach Kathleen Brown.

Haley will be expected to contribute in the circle as well as at first base and DP.

Dan River’s Meadows sisters sign with Patrick Henry Community College

PHCC Dan RiverRINGGOLD — While most college athletes don’t always have the luxury of playing near their families or with their old teammates, Kelsey and Kimmie Meadows, sibling softball players from Dan River, will do both when they take the field next season for Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville.

“ I really like what I’m majoring in and they have that. And I like the softball program,” Kelsey said, “And my sister is going there too so we both decided ‘Hey we’re going together.’ So that should be awesome.”

Patriots coach Kathleen Brown was excited about the opportunity for the sisters to play for her at PHCC and has been recruiting them for nearly two years before finally getting them to sign on the dotted line.
