December 4, 2015

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) men’s soccer player Elias Tamburini was selected to the third team of the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I All-America team.

Tamburini, a sophomore, led the team in goals with 21 for the season, which also set a new school record. His 21 goals broke the previous record set by Daniel Maldonado (2014) who scored 19. Tamburini also led the team in assists, points and shots, each of which he ranked in the top 20 in the country.

After falling to Lousiburg College, the eventual national champion, in the Region X Tournament Championship game, Tamburini was named to the All-Region First Team and was runner-up for Region X Player of the Year. He also earned player of the week honors after he scored a combined 4 goals and 2 assists against Cape Fear and USC Salkehatchie.

“I am very happy for Elias and the team,” said head coach Enda Crehan. “We had another super year and Elias is a great player and young man. He is the definition of a model student-athlete. I wish him the best of luck as he continues his career at Virginia Tech to study and play in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) next year.”

The Patriots finished the season with a 12-7-2 overall record and 12-3-1 in Region X play.
