Golf team win again in Williamsburg

Patrick Henry Community College’s golf team traveled to Williamsburg Monday for the 2015 Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial Golf Tournament at Williamsburg Country Club, and came away with a win.

The Patriots finished first out of 14 schools competing, including Roanoke College, Bridgewater and Lynchburg College. At the end of the 36-hole final, they were tied with Shenandoah College, and beat them in a playoff. As a team, the Patriots shot a 600 in the 2-rounds.Tyler Shough, a Patrick County High School graduate, set a tournament record with a 143 36-hole total for the Patriots. Daniel Rudolffson finished third with a 148.“We faced all 4-year programs and we’re just a 2-year program, so this is a pretty big win for us,” said Patriots coach Robert Weinerth.The Patiots will compete in the Region X finals next week in Newburn, North Carolina at Emerald Golf Course.
