Martinsville- The Lady Patriots Women’s Soccer team were unable to make it a two game winning streak after their narrow defeat to tough opponent Spartanburg Methodist on Wednesday night. The SMC Pioneers started the match forcefully netting two early goals. The Lady Pats acquired their first goal at the 24 minute mark as freshman, Chelsea Ford reduced the margin to one goal. With two minutes remaining in the first half the Pioneers pushed their lead out to 3-1. Although this margin did not last long as freshman Monica Brown fired back immediately securing the Lady Pats their second goal and placing the pressure back on the Pioneers leading into the second half. Goal keeper Sabrina Amos worked tirelessly in the second half allowing only one goal to pass giving her team the opportunity to fight back. Unfortunately the Patriots were unsuccessful with their attempts at goal succumbing to the Pioneers with a final score of 4-2.

The Lady Pats (1-2-1) next match will be played at Warren Wilson College on Saturday September 17th at 7:00pm.
