Men’s soccer season ends, men’s basketball wins in tournament

November 9, 2015

Patrick Henry Community College fell in the Southeast District semi-finals 3-2 to No. 5 ranked Eastern Florida on Saturday at Louisburg College. A win would have put the Patriots in the National Tournament next week.

James Lee and Elias Tamburini each had a goal for the Patriots. Kris Resendez had assists on both. Bayron Lobo had nine saves in goal. Tamburini’s goal Saturday was his 21st of the season, a new Patrick Henry Community College school record.

The Patriots finish the season 12-7-2 and still ranked nationally in the NSCAA and NJCAA polls.

On the hardwood, the men’s basketball team travelled to Rockville, Md this weekend and came away with two wins in the Raptor Tip-Off Classic. The Patriots won 67-61 against the College of Southern Maryland Saturday and defeated Montgomery College on Sunday 75-68. Jerel Jennings had 21 points for the Patriots Sunday, while Shawn Duhon and Jacob Traore had 16 and 12 points respectively. The men’s basketball team is now 2-1 on the season.
