Patriot Review (Oct. 10-16)

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Over the past week, the Lady Patriots’ volleyball and soccer teams competed in conference play.

On Saturday (Oct. 10), the volleyball team won a doubleheader on the road at Sandhills Community College. The Lady Patriots won the first match 3-1 (25-12, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17) and the second match in 3-2 (25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 15-13).

Coach Proffitt’s crew continued their conference winning streak into the week by beating Wytheville Community College 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-16) on Monday and Central Carolina Community College 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-10) on Thursday.

Thursday night’s game was Sophomore Night for the volleyball team, where they honored the team’s lone sophomore, Kalayna Cassady.

The volleyball team is now 13-6 overall and 12-0 in conference play. The Lady Patriots will play their final home game on Saturday (Oct. 17) against Vance Granville in a doubleheader beginning at noon. The team ends the regular season at Davidson County Community College on October 20.

The women’s soccer team fell to Cape Fear Community College at home Thursday (Oct. 15) by a score of 3-0. Cape Fear scored in the 11th, 25th and 63rd minutes.

Taylor Horner had 13 saves in goal for the Patriots. Patrick Henry only had three shots on goal on the night.

Patrick Henry falls to 5-8 on the season and 3-6 in conference play. They host USC Salkehatchie on Saturday at 4 p.m. as part of a PHCC women’s and men’s soccer doubleheader.
