The Patrick Henry Community College men’s soccer team plays its last game this Saturday against USC-Salkehatchie at 4 p.m. riding a three game winning streak and ranked #14 in the nation.

The Patriots started their final stretch of games with a convincing 1-0 win at #9 Spartanburg Methodist last Saturday. The team dominated possession and eventually broke the deadlock when top goal scorer James Westfield picked the ball up on his half of the field and then proceeded to beat three opponent and serving it to teammate Salvador Ramirez for the loan goal.

The Patriots returned to action 24 hours later with a convincing 11-0 win against USC Lancaster which saw James Westfield complete his second hat trick of the season taking his goal tally to 17. Also contributing goals were Luis Vidal (2), Chauncey Gwaikolo (2), Ben Banaghan, Kyle Hathaway, Gabrial Blakman, and Aaron Valeriano.

The Patriots then completed their fourth game in six days with a comfortable 4-1 win against Cape Fear CC in Wilmington, NC. The game saw four different goal scorers contribute to the win: Chauncey Gwaikolo, Milton Juarez, Jaakko Terasranta, and Salvador Ramirez. Head Coach Enda Crehan said, “The lads showed great mental strength bouncing back from the defeat to Louisburg (October 12) to travel to Spartanburg and take away a great win. We are starting to show consistency again and build momentum going into our final game and looking toward next week’s region quarterfinal matchup.”
The team is back in action on Saturday, October 22 for their final regular home game of the season against USC Salkehatchie and 4pm. The team’s sophomores will be honored as they play in their final regular season game at Smith River Sports Complex.
