Patriots fight back to claim 7th win

Smith River Sports Complex- Patriots Men’s Soccer team have claimed a 3-2 come back win from their rivals the Richard Bland StatesmenRichard Bland came out with an aggressive start against their undefeated rivals ,the PHCC Patriots, scoring an early goal just 5 minutes into the first period. The Patriots also had their chances early in the match taking numerous shots at goal, although they were unsuccessful in all their attempts.

Richard Bland netted their second goal at the 18 minute mark placing even more pressure on the Patriots undefeated record and leaving them goalless heading into the second half. Emotions were high throughout the match with the two rivals hungry for the win resulting in penalty kicks rewarded to each team.

The Patriots finally found their rhythm at the beginning of the second half as Graham Holley scored their first goal assisted by his team mate Bernard Banaghan. The Patriots continued their assault towards goal but were unable to convert on several open goal opportunities. Holley again was finally able to even the score at the 30 minute mark with a penalty kick conversion followed by a clever goal from Jaako Terasranta to put the Patriots in the lead.

The Patriots continued to apply pressure to their opponents keeping the ball in their forward line for the majority of the second period. Richard Bland was unable to fire back, resulting in the final score of 3-2 and the Patriots seventh straight win adding to their perfect start to the season.
