Patriots Hire New Men’s Soccer Coach

July 23, 2018

MARTINSVILLE,Va – When the Patriots of Patrick Henry Community College take to the pitch this fall, the men’s soccer squad will have a new man patrolling the sidelines.
The Patriots are naming Martinsville native Brennan Murphy the head men’s soccer coach, replacing Lucas Almeida, who now plans to coach for Carlisle.
Murphy comes to PHCC with coaching experience both at the high school level and travel soccer level. Most recently, he served as the assistant coach of the boy’s program at Patrick County High School.
“I am privileged to be the head men’s soccer coach here at Patrick Henry Community College,” said Murphy. “I look forward to working with our student-athletes to help them become the best version of themselves on and off the field. I also look forward to collaborating with the campus community to continue to make PHCC a great place to be.”
Before Murphy began his coaching career, he played for Martinsville High School where he earned district all-region and all-state honors during both his junior and senior years.  He continued his education and soccer career at Ferrum College.
“We are really excited to have Brennan on board as our men’s soccer coach,” said PHCC Athletics Director Brian Henderson. “Coach Almeida had a good nucleus of returning players and an excellent recruiting class coming in as freshmen. Murphy has a full squad to start his career at PHCC and we look forward to the 2018 season.”
Murphy will begin his duties at PHCC on July 30.  For more information on PHCC Athletics, please visit HYPERLINK “http://www.phccsports.com” www.phccsports.com.
