Patriots Succeeding in Early Test

March 17, 2015

The Patriots at Patrick Henry Community College have continued in their winning ways throughout the first couple of weeks in March.

Compiling a record of 9-1 since the beginning of the month, this group runs through teams with ease. This early string of wins helped propel the Patriots early, which is paramount to success in the latter portion of the season. Understanding how to win baseball games and what is needed for success are crucial aspects to a successful squad. The latest 7-6 home win on Monday, March 16 against Onondaga improved their overall record to 13-6.

Few weaknesses are found in the lineup PHCC put on display, recently. Especially from the likes of Daymon Totherow, who swings a hot bat for the Patriots. He put up a .379 average in the past 10 games, with 6 RBI and 6 stolen bases. He’s been a spark plug for them as of late.

The solid 2.76 team ERA also has been a strong suit exhibited off the mound, including two separate complete game scoreless outings by pitchers Jack Maynard and Yasuan Santiago. The team works as a cohesive unit, and it shows with the kind of production they put up early in the year.

While PHCC students are on spring break, the Patriots look to continue their hot streak this week as they play at King on March 18 followed by a home stent starting with Onondaga on March 19. Also, the weekend series versus Wake Tech will begin conference play. Check phccsports.com and the Patrick Henry C.C. Athletics Facebook page for more details of these events.
