March 24, 2014

The Patrick Henry Community College baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday with Lenoir C.C. at Hooker Field in Martinsville.

The Patriots dropped Game 1 5-2, but responded with a 12-3 win in second game.

Patrick County High School graduate Tyler Belcher took the loss in the opening game, throwing seven innings with three strikeouts and three walks, along with five runs — four earned — and seven hits. BHS grad Nic Keister added a multi-hit game and scored one of the two PHCC runs. Tunstall grad Daymon Totherow also went 2-for-4 in the loss.

In Game 2, Dylan Dombrowskas led the offensive assault with a 3-for-4 game and two RBIs. Keister tripled and scored a run, while fellow BHS teammate Will Hylton added a run and RBI. The Patriots pounded out 14 hits in the game. A four-run, fifth inning opened up a 5-3 lead.
