PHCC earns sweep against Wake Tech

The Patrick Henry Community College softball team earned its second sweep in as many days with two wins over Wake Tech Community College in a doubleheader Tuesday. 10256212_749918001706488_8752589768170669203_n

The Patriots (16-24) took Game 1 by a 9-1 score and followed it with a 9-3 win in Game 2.

The Patriots used a seven-run second inning in Game 1 to cruise to victory. Lindsey Packard collected two hits in the win, with Becca Hicks and Kelsey Meadows adding 2 RBIs each. Every Patriots batter reached base in Game 1.

Haley Faulkner picked up the win in the circle, tossing 41?3 innings in relief of an injured Samantha Barton. Faulkner allowed just three hits and one run.

Game 2 saw the Patriots jump out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning led by back-to-back two-run singles by Kimmie Meadows and Jessica Flynt. Meadows finished with 3 RBIs in the win. Mary Skillman added a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth for the Patriots.

Faulkner earned her second win of the day, tossing a complete game while allowing two earned runs. She added three strikeouts and did not walk a batter.

The Patriots return to action Thursday and Friday with road games at Florence-Darlington Technical College and Southeastern Community College.
