PHCC Hosts 2020 Region X DII Women’s Basketball Tournament

MARTINSVILLE, VA – Patrick Henry Community College will play host to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s 2020 Region X DII Women’s Basketball Tournament on Thursday, March 5 through Saturday, March 7. The tournament will feature seven Region X women’s teams and six games. On Thursday, the tournament kicks off with three first-round matchups. Two second-round games are scheduled for Friday. The tournament culminates on Saturday with the championship game at 1:00 pm.

Catawba Valley Community College, ranked number eight in the nation, has claimed the number one seed and first-round bye. Tournament play begins at 2:00 pm on Thursday with the fourth seed Louisburg College facing the fifth seed Bryant and Stratton College. The second game will feature second seed Cape Fear Community College against the seventh seed Brunswick Community College. The first-round action concludes Thursday at 6:00 pm with third seed Wake Tech Community College taking on the sixth seed USC Salkehatchie.

“We are excited to be this year’s host of the basketball tournament,” says Brian Henderson, PHCC Athletic Director.  “We aim to give our young women in this community a glimpse of the great opportunities NJCAA women’s basketball can provide.”

Tickets are $10 for adults per day. Youth age 12-17 years old are $5.00 and kids age 12 years and younger are free.
