PHCC men’s hoops sweeps Region X weekend

The Patrick Henry Community College men’s basketball team capped a successful weekend on the road Sunday in Region X play after defeating Lenoir Community College 82-64 in Kingston, N.C.560839_667535173278105_2039647520_n

The team defeated previously unbeaten Region X opponent Pitt Community College on Saturday, and head coach Kenny Wade said that it was a good weekend on the road and that his team is building confidence at the right time of the season.

G.W.-Danville graduate Bruce Elder Jr. scored a game-high 36 points to lead four Patriots (10-3, 4-1) in double figures. He scored 20 of those points in the second half and added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Josh Beck had 14 points, Daquan Kerman 11 and Mustafa Ali 10 points and eight assists to help pace the PHCC offense.

The Patriots travel to Richard Bland College in Petersburg at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
