PHCC soccer falls to Hagerstown, 3-2

September 9, 2013

The Patrick Henry Community College men’s soccer team was its own worst enemy Sunday falling to Hagerstown Community College 3-2 in the Stifel Nicolaus Invitational at the Smith River Sports Complex.

PHCC gave up a penalty kick and an own goal in the loss as four goals were scored in the second half. Oscar Ulloa scored both goals for the Patriots (6-2) equalizing the match early in the second half and then pulling them to within a goal later in the half.

The own goal given up was the first of the season. Head coach Scott Haywood said that two of the three goals Hagerstown scored were gifts and that his team let their opponent stay in the match. PHCC led 17-8 in shots.

The men return to action Saturday at Region X favorite Louisburg College.
