The Patriots won Game 1, 6-2 and followed that win with a 3-0 shutout victory in Game 2.

Patrick County High School graduate Tyler Belcher was the key to PHCC’s opening-game win. Belcher tossed seven innings, scattering six hits and one earned run while striking out six and walking none. Matt Isaacs tossed two scoreless innings to finish the game.

Bassett High School graduate Will Hylton had a big game out of the leadoff spot. He went 3-for-3, with a run and two RBIs. Dylan Dombrowskas doubled and drove in a run as well for the Patriots in Game 1. PHCC jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first three innings, providing Belcher with plenty of run support

In Game 2, Levi Pruitt and Alex Brown combined for a four-hitter in the 3-0 win. Pruitt struck out six and Brown cuffed two — neither surrendered a walk.

The Patriots used a three-run, fifth inning to provide all the scoring. Bassett graduate Nic Keister scored one of the three runs and provided one of three PHCC hits in the game. Tunstall grad Daymon Totherow also had a hit in the game.

PHCC returns to action at 1 p.m. Wednesday when it travels to North Carolina Wesleyan.
