PHCC women’s soccer beats USC-Salkehatchie in Region X quarterfinals

The Patrick Henry Community College women’s soccer team defeated USC-Salkehatchie on Tuesday in the NJCAA Region X quarterfinals.1382350_654481264583496_1063781039_n

The Patriots advanced to the semifinals Saturday hosted by USC-Lancaster. They will take on No. 1 seed Cape Fear at a time to be determined.

Larissa Ayo scored the game winner in the 55th minute on an assist by Alvalous Barbour. Taylor Flick started the play from the back by delivering a ball up the sideline. On a diagonal run Barbour then was able to slide a vertical ball behind the defense for a Ayo to run on to it and she deposited the ball to the far side netting for the goal.

Payton Gregg made eight saves to pick up her first career shutout.

PHCC improved to 7-11.
