October 30, 2015

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Patrick Henry Community College’s men’s and women’s soccer teams have advanced to the semi-finals of the Region X Conference Tournament. Both teams will be in action Saturday, October 31, with the women’s team playing at noon against #1 seed Cape Fear Community College, and the men’s team playing at 7:30 pm against #3 seed Spartanburg Methodist College. If the teams advance, they will play in the championship game on Sunday, November 1. The semi-finals and championship games are taking place at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, N.C.

After upsetting USC-Lancaster in the first round of the tournament, the women’s soccer team is looking to create more havoc by beating the #1 seed. The Lady Patriots split their regular season games with Cape Fear, losing 3-0 on October 15 and winning three days later by a score of 3-1.

With a decisive 5-1 victory against Wake Tech in the first round, the men’s soccer team is looking to carry that momentum throughout the rest of the tournament. The Patriots were 1-1 against Spartanburg during the regular season, losing to them by a score of 6-0 on September 5 and beating them 3-2 in overtime on October 7.
