Softball earns sweep at Ferrum

The Patrick Henry Community College softball team earned a sweep at Ferrum College on Monday evening. Patrick Henry used a four run third inning to cruise to a 12-0 shutout victory in Game 1. 1798508_733904953307793_512039586_nMorgan Revels led the Patriots offensively with two hits, including a two run home run. Samantha Cisco and Allison Pentony added two RBI’s each. Samantha Barton earned the shutout in the circle, pitching a complete game while allowing only four hits and striking out three.

Game 2 saw the Patriots come from behind twice in an 11-9 win. After spotting the Panthers 6 runs in the first inning, the Patriots tied the game in the top of the 5th inning on Kimmie Meadows RBI single. Ferrum then tacked on three more runs to take a 9-6 lead into the final inning. The Patriots rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh, first tying the game on Mary Skillman’s three-run home run and taking the lead on a Lindsey Packard two-run double. Kimmie Meadows finished the game with two hits and 3 RBI’s, Skillman added three hits and 3 RBI’s and Morgan Revels and Samantha Barton each scored three times. Barton picked up the win in the circle in relief of starter Haley Faulkner. Barton went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and adding six strikeouts.
