Softball split at Ferrum

Ferrum College was never able to get over the hump and get over its troubles against PHCC Patriots on Monday, as Ferrum College fell 7-6 at Ferrum after falling behind by four runs in the third inning.

Ferrum College scored on an RBI single by PlayerI and a groundout by PlayerC in the third inning, an RBI single by PlayerH in the fourth inning, and a solo home run by PlayerF, an RBI triple by PlayerI, and an RBI double by PlayerA in the sixth inning. Despite its efforts, Ferrum College couldn’t get over the hump.

Becca Hicks did her best to jumpstart the offense for PHCC Patriots, reaching base four times. She scored three runs and had one RBI. She doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Madison Gauldin recorded the win for PHCC Patriots even though she allowed six runs over seven innings. She struck out three, walked none and surrendered 13 hits.

PHCC Patriots never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on two singles.

PHCC Patriots added two more runs in the top of the third. Hicks doubled, scoring Sam Cisco to start the inning.

One PHCC Patriots baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth. In the fourth, PHCC Patriots scored on a groundout by Haley Faulkner, bringing home Hailey Williams.

Game #1 went to Ferrum 7-6 and the lady pats battled back to take game #2  7-6
