Softball Splits with USC-Salk

The Patrick Henry Community College softball team split a doubleheader with USC-Salkehatchie on the road Saturday

In Game 1, the Patriots fell short in the final inning, dropping a 5-4 decision. The game was tied going into the bottom of the seventh before USC-Salkehatchie loaded the bases and won the game on a walk-off single by Haley Meza.

Lindsey Packard, Kimmie Meadows and Morgan Revels each had two hits in the loss. Haley Faulkner threw a complete game, giving up five runs — all earned — while scattering eight hits and striking out two.

The Patriots (1-3) picked up their first win on the season in Game 2 behind a complete game effort by sophomore Samantha Barton. PHCC scored three runs in the seventh inning to win 7-5 victory

Packard led the way for the Patriots going 4-for-4 with three doubles and three runs scored. Samantha Cisco hit the go-ahead double plating the two go-ahead runs.

PHCC’s hosts its first home games on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
