Patriots Battle, but Oxford-Emory Pulls Away Late

MARTINSVILLE, VA — Patrick & Henry Community College men's basketball fell to Oxford College of Emory University by a final score of 82–70 on Saturday afternoon in a home matchup at the P&HCC Sports Complex.

Patrick & Henry came out strong offensively in the opening half, with the Patriots spreading the scoring load early. Ramael Warren Jr. led P&HCC with a game-high 19 points, pouring in 15 of those in the first half to keep the contest tight heading into the break. William Jones added 18 points, including 12 in the opening period, while Jayse Barrett chipped in nine points and Wes Gobble finished with 12 points, eight of which came in the second half.

Oxford College was paced by a pair of big performances from Ved Desai and Jason Kim, who each scored 23 points. The visiting Eagles used a strong second-half push to create separation and held off multiple Patriot runs down the stretch.

Despite the loss, P&HCC showed balanced scoring and strong early offensive execution, with four players finishing in double figures or near double figures. The Patriots were unable to sustain their first-half momentum as Oxford-Emory capitalized on key possessions in the final 20 minutes.

Patrick & Henry will look to bounce back quickly as the Patriots return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. when they host Tidewater Community College in a Region 10 Division III matchup.
