Patriots Place Two on All-Region First Team, Gobble Named Freshman of the Year

MARTINSVILLE, VA -- The Patrick & Henry Community College men's basketball program was recognized by NJCAA Region 10 with two First Team All-Region selections, as sophomore guard Jayse Barrett and freshman guard Wes Gobble earned top honors. Gobble was also named Region 10 Freshman Player of the Year.

Patrick & Henry finished the season 7–18 overall and 5–4 in conference play, posting a winning record in Region 10 competition.

Barrett delivered one of the most efficient scoring seasons in the region. In 23 games (21 starts), he averaged 16.4 points per game, shooting 52.9% from the field, 42.1% from three-point range, and 82.8% from the free throw line. He totaled 378 points on the year while adding 7.9 rebounds per game, finishing with 182 total rebounds. In conference play, Barrett elevated his efficiency even further, shooting 54.5% from the floor and 50% from three, while averaging 13.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game against Region 10 opponents.

Gobble made an immediate impact in his freshman campaign, appearing in 22 games with 20 starts. He averaged 16.5 points per game and finished with 362 total points, knocking down 69 three-pointers on 36.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Overall, he shot 42.2% from the field and an outstanding 87.5% from the free throw line. Gobble also contributed 5.5 rebounds per game, totaling 122 boards, and added 59 assists on the season. In conference action, he averaged 13.9 points per game while shooting 41.9% from the field and 85.7% from the line.

Combined, Barrett and Gobble accounted for 740 total points this season, providing the backbone of the Patriots' offense and helping guide the program to a winning record in conference play.

With two First Team All-Region honorees and the Freshman Player of the Year award, Patrick & Henry continues to establish itself as a competitive force within Region 10.
