Women’s hoops outpaced by Louisburg 97-52

February 13, 2016

LOUISBURG, N.C. — The Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) women’s basketball team fell 97-52 Friday (Feb. 12) to second-place Region X, Division II Louisburg College.

The No. 14 ranked Hurricanes (19-4, 7-2) used a quick start and their athleticism to out-pace the Lady Patriots for the better part of 40 minutes. The 97 points allowed were the most given up in a game this season by the PHCC women, while the 45-point loss also proved to be the largest margin of defeat in 2015-16.

Freshman Ebony Reynolds (Patrick County, Va.) recorded her 10th straight double-double, scoring a team-high 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Sophomore Elena Suebsman (Germany) added nine points and six boards.

PHCC coach Brian Henderson said his team had a hard time handling the ball and that Louisburg’s pressure proved to be too much.

“We went up against a very tough team,” Henderson said. “(Louisburg’s) guards were very athletic, and you can see why they are the No. 2 ranked team in the conference and one of the best in the nation.”

The Lady Pats return home Feb. 18 when they take on Guilford Tech at 5 p.m. in Stone Hall.
